PRIMITIVE

This project stems from the idea of creating an environmentally friendly outdoor hotel that provides a minimum housing experience creating a dialogue with the landscape in which it is located.

One of 'Primitive' goals is to transmit environmental consciousness by using recovered and recycled materials, in order to help people to appropriate their living environment and its' transformations. We want people to immerse themselves in nature and, for a moment, to cut themselves off from the city's movement. To this end, Primitive offers a pedagogical activity, by proposing a workshop that will introduce a new perspective on sustainable development.

Primitive proposes a participatory workshop on minimal habitat by reusing local resources to make micro-architectures and outdoor living spaces.

A structure prefabricated with wood waste will be the basis for the participants to build their houses during the first day. Teaching some principles of froissartage to the participants will allow them to build and appropriate their housing.

The project will be situated on the Island of Charlemagne in Orléans, France. The place offers a transition between the urban and natural space by framing both the city of Orléans in the distance and the surrounding park, which together, they create a contrast between urban and nature.
